She basks in the sun as she walks across the field of grass,
this April day of the dry season. Warmed, her bronze skin

   glistens along with her scars: one on her left eyebrow 

   which has become her eyebrow, the other marking her right cheek.

The sun has been reigning supreme with his blazing surface, 

since time immemorial. Twin of Mother Earth, for eons
constantly vivifying and giving warmth to all he nurtures.
